E through M - Consulting, Writing, and Editing

What we do

We help writers get unstuck, develop, and find their way through their stories both real and imagined.  Whether you are just getting started or have finished a manuscript our consulting services help you get started on writing projects or workshop through specific issues.  Our developmental editing takes a big picture look at your manuscript and offers feedback on issues like theme, plot, and character development.  We want to help you get from wherever you are in your writing process to the next step.

Consultations

We firmly believe any creative endeavor needs community support. We can help you find a starting point for your writing or workshop with you to overcome any writing block you may have.  Sign up for a consultation to talk through your ideas for your next writing project. Whether you are at the “I want to write a book… Now what?” stage or, “I’ve written 100,000 words but realize I have no idea what I am writing about,” stage, we would love to talk with you.

Developmental Editing

We focus on theme, setting, plot, voice, character development, tension, and pacing.  We specialize in health memoirs but love to work on fiction as well.  How is this different from line editing or proofreading?  While you can google this and find a myriad of great answers here is our working definition:

Developmental editing: Looks at your work as a whole and provides feedback on big picture issues like plot and theme.

Line editing: Looks at writing style and sentence structure.

Proofreading or copy editing: all about spelling and grammar.

Testimonials

Hear from other about working with us individually and as a team.

I highly recommend Elizabeth for her ability to help one craft and create a story.  Her knowledge and understanding of writing prose is phenomenal.  She has an unassuming ability to ask thought provoking questions allowing the writer to look deeper within themselves through a different lens to find the story they seek to release.  Her writing workshops always offer a safe space to create and share.  One never knows what may rise to the surface to later become the next best-selling novel!  If you want to write to share a story or simply enjoy a creative writing process, then look no further than Elizabeth!!

-Tami

Working with Elizabeth challenges and inspires me in the best way.  She knows how to ask questions which clarify things in the moment but also stay with me as touchstones for years to come.  Her wisdom is dispensed with the no-nonsense of a Texas Mom and the warmth of a cup of tea.

-Mollie

Mollie is fun to work with.  She is organized and is great at bringing ideas together.  Her love of books and wide reading tastes give her an edge when reading new manuscripts.  She helped me clarify my writing and gave me the motivation to explore new themes I had been avoiding.  My book is so much better thanks to her.

-Elizabeth

Mollie has assisted me in numerous writing projects over the past 16 years. Her gentle yet direct style has helped me uncover my voice and the core message I’m trying to express. Ultimately, helping me to create pieces that others are able to connect with.
